A polymer is a large compound, often made of thousands of atoms, that is composed of repeating subunits.

Natural polymers are found in the compounds that make up hemp, shellac, amber, wool, silk, natural rubber, and cellulose. Synthetic polymers compounds are nylon, silicone, synthetic rubber, polystyrene, and polyvinyl chloride.
