GreenStalk is a vertical gardening system that uses soil in stacked polypropylene containers up to five tiers in height. Each tier holds one cubic foot of soil and has six planting spots. A Lazy Susan style spinner base is available to rotate a fixed tower, and a base supported by casters is available to rotate and move.

The compartmented design may allow for easy succession planting.[1]

Plants

A many types of plants, but not all, are able to grow using this method though some may need special considerations.

Safe to plant

  • Tomatoes, trim off lower leaves of seedlings and plant deep into the soil[2]
  • Peppers, trim off lower leaves of seedlings and plant deep into the soil[2]
  • Bush beans grow very well, add about 3 seeds per spot[2]
  • Basil, plant a soil level[2]
