Polypropylene is a type of plastic. It has a high melting point and is often used for microwave safe containers and kitchen utilities. It is resistant to cracking and stress, even when flexed, and it does not react with water, detergents, acids, or bases preventing it from easily breaking down.[1]

Polypropylene products are often marked with PP or the number 5 inside a recycling symbol. This type of resin is commonly accepted by curbside recycling programs.
