Isopropyl alcohol (also called rubbing alcohol) is a type of alcohol primarily used for sanitation for medicinal applications and as a household solvent. This alcohol is poisonous and consuming small amounts may cause death.[1] Isopropyl alcohol is primarily produced by reacting propene, a byproduct of oil refining and natural gas processing, with water, or by hydrogenating acetone.
