Acetone ((CH3)2CO) is an organic compound. It is a flammable liquid under normal environmental conditions, is easily mixed with water, often used as a solvent for cleaning, and is the simplest ketone.
It is often used as nail polish remover and as a paint thinner. Acetone also dissolves polystyrene.
