A willow, also called a sallow and osier, form the genus Salix, a grouping of about 400 species of deciduous trees and shrubs, found primarily on moist soils in cold and temperate regions.
Willows tolerate shaded sunlight but grow best in sunny locations. They are also a good choice to coppice or pollard.
