Rotational grazing

Rotational grazing is a method of grazing in which animals are periodically moved to fresh land to maximize the quality and quantity of forage growth. This disturbance is then followed by a period of rest to enable the forage to recover. The recovered land is typically reused by the animals for grazing or the disturbance is used to start succession or prepare the ground for planting.

Eco-grazing is a variation of rotational grazing, but the plants and not the animals are the primary purpose. Eco-grazing is used to control opportunist plants or clear the land to help reestablish native species. Although the animals are not the primary purpose, they can still be used for meat, milk, or fiber.
