Dimensional lumber is wood lumber that is cut to standard sizes and refer to primarily by depth and width, not length.[1]
The depth and width are sometimes given in actual and nominal dimensions. Nominal dimensions are smaller and are based on the thickness of the saw blade and additional milling processes.[1]
