Acetic acid, or ethanoic acid, (CH3COOH) is an acid, which is the main component of vinegar, other than water. It tastes and smells sour and has no color.

Acetic acid is able to reduce glycemic and insulinemic responses to foods, such as a starchy meal, by delaying gastric emptying.[1]
