A ladybug is a predatory insect as it hunts and eats aphids and other insects. Ladybugs are though of as beneficial insects as they help limit crop damage caused by aphids by reducing their numbers.
A predatory insect as in insect whose adult or larval stages directly catch and eat other insects.
