A herbaceous plant (or simply herb) are plants that do not have woody stems above the soil. Some, like mint, basil, parsley, and chives, are prized for their edible stems or leaves, but not all herbs are edible. Herbaceous plants typically grow fast and include many perennials and nearly all annuals and biennials. Herbs can further be divided into graminoids and forbs.
